Stories from the Moon

The moon whispers to me: I am your nearest neighbor, your silent companion. I am the light that walks beside you through the depths of night. I am the marker that guides you back whenever direction abandons you. When landmarks fade, I become the center of your map, the compass that needs no needle.

It was for these stories that we gathered at Hayy Jameel’s monthly dewaniya on the night of 20 Shawwal 1447 Hijri (8 April 2026), beneath the moon’s glow. What unfolded then was an editorial experiment. Instead of releasing an open call for submissions, we invited creatives to gather and create this mini-issue from concept to publication. Each one of them reflected on the moon as idea, symbol, and narrative; discussed its presence in imagination, language, and art; and created the works that would lend this issue its colors and textures.
